Honoring a Legacy of Service

My grandmother, Georgia Chambers Hunter, has spent her life proving that impact isn’t measured by what you keep—it’s measured by what you give.

At just 15 years old, she left St. Louis to attend Tennessee State University, graduating in 1955. Even then, she was a giver—archived records show a 15-cent donation she made as a student to help her classmates. That small act was the first ripple in what became a lifetime of generosity.

From that day forward, my grandmother has given tirelessly—to TSU, to her community, to countless people whose lives she’s touched. Her shelves are lined with community service awards, but her true legacy lives in the hearts of those she’s helped.

I know we can never repay her. So instead, I chose to help here to pay it forward. The Georgia Chambers Hunter Impact Scholarship will open doors for deserving Tennessee State students, ensuring her spirit of generosity continues for generations.

This year, we’re proud to honor our very first recipient, Ms. Sidney Yates—a young woman whose drive and commitment to excellence embody the very heart of Grandma’s legacy.
